About Me
I started being interested in graphic and web design a little later in life in 2002. I first encountered a website that allowed you to create a website using a drag and drop interface. After seeing my "first" website, I got hooked. With this new passion, I decided to enroll in the University of Maryland and work towards two certificates in graphics and web design. Unfortunately, these were the only programs available at that time. I will always remember my reaction to seeing Photoshop at work for the first time. The teacher showed us what the program could do, and well, my mouth just dropped (to this day, I still feel the same way, when Adobe comes up with a new tool). I absolutely fell in love with Photoshop and most especially the clone tool. So, I got myself even more heavily involved and this journey got me to where I am at today. I enrolled in the International Academy of Design and Technology in San Antonio where I received an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts. As of 2011, I am still at this school going towards my Bachelor's degree. I am always striving to learn more about graphics and web design. This school has strengthened my passion for graphic design and to focus more on this. As for web design, I can code HTML, CSS, and manipulate JavaScript, but unfortunately, me and programming do not get along so well.
As for my personal background, I was born in Texas but raised in a little town in Spain. I have been told that Spanish was my first language and I can still speak and write it fluently. As a matter of fact, I volunteer my graphic design services to a blog dedicated to a nearby city. Because of this, I have learned a lot about blogs. Along with the blog, I am the sole person responsible for their Facebook page. In 1990 I joined the Air Force. While there, I was able to acquire several jobs as a web designer. I volunteered to maintain several organizational websites, along with a 1000 page website used by analysts to perform their duties. I was also able to create logos, newsletters, and flyers for different organizations and events (some are shown in this website).
I retired from the military in 2010 in San Antonio, Texas and now I am fully focusing on school. After school, or even while I am still in, I would like to work for a company that offers many graphic design services to the public or to companies. I am confident that I can provide a high level of professionalism, dedication, honesty and tenacity to a company willing to give me a chance.
